A ten-year cellular plan costs us about $14 wholesale. So we buy it upfront, put it in the price, and never send you a bill. That's the whole trick. There's no catch, just a different business model.
It also means nobody can switch your tracker off. In August 2025 every Whistle device in America stopped working after the brand was acquired. The hardware was fine. The servers weren't.

We're asking you to trust that something you buy once still works in ten years. That deserves scepticism. Whistle owners learned the hard way.
So, in writing: if Zuumies ever winds down, we publish the device protocol and open-source the backend so your tracker keeps working without us. We will not brick hardware you paid for.
The honest fine print: "ten years of included data" means 500 MB per device, which is normal use for a decade with room spare. Exhaust it and a top-up is $10. We'd rather give you the real number than say "unlimited" and hope you skip the terms.

There's no premium tier, no paywalled feature, no "upgrade to see history." You bought the tracker; the app is how you use it. iOS and Android, and every pet you own lives in the same account.
It knows the difference between at home and out. When your pet is inside your Wi-Fi, the app drops the tracker into low power. When they leave, it wakes up and tells you.

LTE-M reaches further into fringe areas than a phone, but it can't report from nowhere. Genuinely off-grid? Buy a radio tracker instead.

There's no paid tier to sell you, so the app has no reason to interrupt you.

Your pet's location is your data. We don't broker it, and US customer data stays on US servers.

Is it really no subscription?
Really. We buy a ten-year prepaid cellular plan at wholesale and include it in the $179. No tier, no renewal, no card on file. The only cost that can ever arise is a $10 top-up if you exhaust 500 MB.
Does it need cell coverage?
Yes, and we'd rather say so plainly. LTE-M penetrates further than standard LTE but cannot report where there's no coverage at all.
How long does the battery last?
The candidate hardware is rated at 5 to 7 days on an 800 mAh cell, and configuration of the home Wi-Fi power-saving zone should extend that. We will publish a measured figure here once we have tested samples ourselves, and not before.
What if I lose the tracker itself?
A replacement is $179 with its own ten years of data. No reactivation fee, because there's nothing to reactivate.
